Art Commissions
I accept portrait commissions as well as requests for bespoke works of art
Simply send me a photo of the subject.
I work mainly with portraits and figures, including life studies also statuary and other classical images.
I'm also very happy to do pets portraits.
I can combine subjects from different photos into the same drawing.
I have no hard and fast rules. If you have any particular requirement I'm sure I will be able to accommodate you.
Select your preferred medium, send me the photo. I'll confirm the price and tell you when I would expect to finish the work.
When it's done, I'll send you a photo of it and then, if you are happy you pay and I'll post the work to you.
Choice of media
Pencil, Conte' Crayon, Charcoal and Oil Pastel
Pencil
This allows great accuracy and likeness. It creates an intimacy between the viewer and the subject.
Conte' Crayon
These portraits are more painterly, and although the periphery is less defined, the same accuracy and character are developed in the facial features where the personality resides.
Charcoal
Similar to the Conte' Crayon charcoal portraits provide great impact.
Oil Pastel
I use a very traditional sanguine colour, as used by the old masters. The oil pastel affords the great attention to detail with a pleasing overall effect.

The red sanguine chalk colour has been used by artists since the early cave paintings. I think it is perfect for human skin, of all shades and colour and produces a wonderful glow.
