I refer to these charcoal portraits as 'studies,' a term I find more fitting as it encapsulates the process of delving deeper into the subject's essence, capturing subtle nuances and emotions beyond mere physical likeness. 

My approach, characterised by intense lines, reveals layers of personality, mood, and inner thoughts. Unlike a portrait, which often emphasises outward appearance, my studies explore the inner workings, providing a glimpse into the subject’s true self.

The result is a portrait that will engage the viewer and afford them a deeper insight into the subjects character.
